I’m officially past past my halfway point and I feel awesome! The baby is the size of a banana, (I love all the comparisons to fruit), it’s cool! It was funny the other day at work, a coworker and I were chatting and she commented that I totally have a “glow” going on. I thought that was funny for a moment, but then I realized for the last week I had been feeling really great! I had more energy and was just overall feeling happy and excited. I was glad that I was able to take a moment and realize how I felt the first few months and how I feel today. It is constantly changing!
Throughout the week I felt inspired to run. I started off on Monday with 1 mile. It was a good start but I had to pee really bad the entire mile so it wasn’t the most enjoyable run. My last run of the week I pushed and did a little over 2 miles, (by the way I normally am not a runner). It was so great! Didn’t have to pee…was more careful about drinking right before and the distance was challenging. During the work hours I focused on using my breaks to perform as many squats and lunges as my legs could handle. I’ve noticed I’m starting to get more aching sitting at my desk all day so it’s really important for me to make time throughout my day for daily exercise and stretching.
On Saturday we had our big ultrasound which was probably part of my excitement this past week where we found out the gender of our baby and really got to see up close and personal. This was Ken’s first doctor appointment with me so it was extra special sharing our 20 week ultrasound visit. We’re beyond thrilled to announce we’re having a GIRL. She was moving around like crazy the entire ultrasound showing off for us.
Today’s workout consisted of Bring Sally Up/Down. It’s been a few months since I’ve done this one, (I believe it was at my sister’s baby shower when I was first pregnant but didn’t know yet) so I felt the burn, majorly! Afterwards a fun game of Med-ball Volleyball, which was a first for me. We used a 6lb Med ball and basically played volleyball with it. I got a little excited with one of my throws and twisted my belly hard to throw it over the rope. I felt a little ache just like I over-stretched my side a little too far but was fine to finish out the game! I absolutely love when the warm ups are games!
For the workout I made a couple modifications. I decided to do regular pushups instead of the handstand pushups, and ring rows instead of the pull ups. My side was still feeling a little sore from the warm up, so I decided not to stretch it further with the kipping pull ups. I did a total of 7 rounds over 20 minutes. I felt like I stayed with a perfect pace and felt challenged at the end.
I feel like my tummy is at that awkward “teenage” stage but we got one great photo and that’s all I needed to end a perfect workout session!
Thanks for tuning in!
